To all new members and potential
members:
Greetings and salutations to the entire "Group Harmony Lovers" population, in other words, welcome....to the
Doo-Wop Association of America.
I'm sure, with out a doubt, you must have at least 2,468 valid questions just circulating
with-in the canyons of your mind...ready to ask! And Please do!! But...just sit back, relax, and give the Ol' Daddy of Doo-Wop
the opportunity and chance to bore you senseless, with a detailed outline of what the D.W.A.A. is all about, and what its
goals and intentions are. If this still dosen't satisfy your mind, you might need to "call 911" (just kidding).
First
and formost. We realize and fully understand that there are other already established organizations who share the same concepts
and similar goals as we do.
But, I beleave and in my opinion (for what its worth) there can never be enough channels
to turn to or avenues to go through when it comes to gaining the knowledge and, being devoted to the preservation and exposure
of "Doo-Wop" Music.
The enthusiasm and aggressive endevor to spread this gospel.. be it networking, not just on a Local
level but, on a National and even International level, to all connoisseurs, afficianatos and novices to this style of music
is the paramount goal of this association.
Fact....We know in this country alone there are thousands upon thousands
of "baby boomers", real fans of the rockn' n' rollin' sounds of the fifties and early sixties, in which "Doo-Wop" Music played
an important and major role. I fully believe it's possible to find and attract these people just to let them know, there is
a place to which they can turn, and of which they can be a part, and join with others who have the same common musical interests.
The
D.W.A.A. is proud and honored to be the (West Coast) Home of the Doo-Wop- Hall of Fame. This archive of recognition is dedicated
to the many legendary and immortal vocal groups (some of which are still intact and performing today) who have given a priceless
gift of music that will not only be remembered, but will also acknowledge that what they did, was not just a passing fad or
done in vain.
I truly feel that there were many of these "Classic Vocal Groups" that did not get this well deserved
honor to which they were entitled.
So, let the trumpets sound, roll out the red carpet, and let the voices be heard,
as the D.W.A.A. presents, The"Doo-Wop" Hall of Fame. Place Your Vote at our e-mail, for that Group that You feel, should be
in "THE HALL OF FAME"
In closing, I wish to express, crystal clear, what you can expect as a V.I.P. member of the D.W.A.A.
Besides
the usual amenities such as, a Membership card, Monthly news update on this site and an Annual Hall of Fame Awards party,
let me unveil the master plan we have created for you, to make this association more than just that.
Plan #1 To present
"live" shows featuring both original and tribute artists.
Plan #2 To negotiate with the local radio stations, a weekly
time slot, for the exposure of Vocal Group Harmony Music (a Doo-Wop radio program) sponsored by the D.W.A.A.
(which we
have done in some areas) more NEEDED!!!
Plan #3 Last but not least, since our home base is in Central Calif. and,
it's much easier to cater predominately to the local members, we want to set in place local chapters in other areas....So,
don't feel degregated, everyone will get equal time.
I started this Association in 1994, with just few good people
that truly loved the sound of real "Doo-Wop" and its grown to over 400 members.
I hope this page has answered and addressed
a good portion of whatever questions and concerns you had about us.
